On April 19th five ATMI reporters packed up and left the chilly state of Alaska and flew south to enjoy a weekend in warm, sunny Portland at the National Youth in Radio Training Project Conference. Rebecca Barker, Chris Frenier, Hannah Magen, Noah Magen, and Sara Perman, along with Program Director Shana Sheehy and Assistant Director Rosey Robards got a chance to mingle with other youth radio programs from across the country. They learned all about radio for youth. ATMI covers four-day convention (Jan. 2006) ATMI staff and director Shana Sheehy will travel to Fairbanks Jan. 13 to 16 to report on the Conference of Young Alaskans at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. COYA connects future leaders If you were to take a morning walk into Wood Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Sunday Jan. 15, and you would see the Convention of Young Alaskans well underway. Young people aged 14 to 24 waited for coffee or talked to some of the state's most prominent politicians. READ MORE
ATMI's Chris Frenier and Katie Zager joined the University of Alaska Anchorage's Shootout coverage team this Thanksgiving weekend. The two contributed game and feature stories, an audio clip and a video game story for the Journalism and Public Communication department's Web site at www.shootout.net.
