This morning, COYA delegates met for the last time in Wood Hall at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After a four day conference, delegates have covered five different focus groups; education, leadership, natural resources, healthy family and communities, and the Alaska dream. This morning, the delegates voted on action plans for the various topics. After a few heated debates on topics ranging from gay marriage to aerial wolf hunting and quite a few standing ovations, the delegates reached an agreement that will be filed into a report that will be distributed throughout Alaska. The closing ceremony featured a speech by Mary Kapsner, a four-term representative in the State House from the Bethel Region, as well as a closing prayer read by delegate Samuel Abney. The conference closed by giving each delegate a chance to reflect on the weekend.
