Listen to the story!

Just recently, I took my road test to become a licensed driver. I wanted to take it as soon as possible because this January they are changing to provisional licenses. It was kind of difficult to get an appointment, as they were booked solid for a month. I guess a lot of other people were trying to get their license before January like me.

I wasn't really nervous while taking the test but I did feel the pressure of trying to pass it. You know...everything was pretty straight forward, "Turn left here. Change into the right lane when it's safe. Green means go, red means stop." But my favorite and the most exciting part was when I did the quick stop. The tester told me to visualize that a little kid was coming out into the road and that I was to accelerate as fast as I could until she said quick stop. I sped across the ice as fast as I could and when she said, "quick stop," I stopped quickly. After that the test was a breeze. I parallel parked perfectly. I was so proud of myself. We drove in a nice easy circle around Eagle River.

The only problem I ran into was when I pulled up to a cross walk. I couldn't really see it because it was covered by ice and snow so I kind of drove over it without stopping completely. So... I got a few points deducted for that, but it didn't break me.

We drove leisurely back to the DMV and the tester tallied up my points. I passed. Finally, I'm a licensed driver! And another teen on the road...
